A Land of My People

I dreamt of a place
Of others like me
Skin, structure, and tongue
Living in dedication
With academies full of life
And companies employed
Who share

The skin of my tone
The structure of my face
And the tongue of my language

I dreamt of a place
Where my parents are free
To drive to the bar
And speak with their friends
About dreams for their children
Or dreams of their own
If one exists
In this world of none
That they are forsaken
To dream, if at all
About a world with

The skin of my tone
The structure of my face
And the tongue of my language

I dreamt of a place
Where the current events
Portrayed leaders who spoke
In my language with pride
While they showed the land
Ripe with fruit and seed
Which bore my roots
Of which I am born
To dream of a place

A land of the free
A land of me
A land of my people
